first, slotting...

it's a way to keep your brake rotors cooler when under the stresses of race & track driving, spirited canyon runs, or even basic aggressive driving round town. lowering brake temperatures helps avoid brake fade which causes your car to lose it's stopping power. 

secondly drilling... 

ultimately, it does nothing but look good with new-age pads, as the drill holes no longer create the gasses they were once used to help disperse...yet still have that look every car lover likes.

lastly, dimpling...
